» A few words about the festival
» About 40 free screenings provide a diverse, rich and intriguing program that is both fun and serious-minded. Shorts, featurettes and feature-length films in the genres of documentary, fiction and docu-drama are on offer, followed by debates with the filmmakers and competing scientists. »Special debates on the current state of documentary film along with working professionals in the fields of audiovisual and research.
For schools :
» 16 screenings fit into the school curriculum and are aimed at students from age 6 to 18. An invitation to come discover a film and meet a researcher. » A scientist sponsors each class on the Middle and High School Student Jury. He or she visits the schools to talk about the films and what the job of a researcher entails.
» Two themes will be particularly developed in 2009: Astronomy, within the framework of the International Year of Astronomy. Evolution, within the framework of bicentenary of Darwin’s birth, the 150th anniversary of the publication of his seminal work, “On the Origin of Species”.
